Hi,
How did you all withstand the latest storm. Heard it was pretty heavy in the UK. Missed us in Holland luckily.

No problem! The pubs here are mainly built of bricks, so providing that once you're in and don't open any doors or windows, you can stay for days and withstand any bad weather.

Just dropped the chainsaw in the back with a gallon (4.54 Litres) of pre mixed two stroke and chain oil.

Already got strops and pulleys in so cut them and winch them out of the way, simples.

Stratford - upon - Avon racecourse went under water. No camping there!
Was towing stranded vehicles out of 2ft of flood water in Bidford.

I hear storms may be coming again Friday?  study

It seems Stratford-upon-Avon racecourse gets flooded virtually every year. When I went there to measure up last December, although there was still 6 inches of water in places, I was told that the week before it was 4 foot deep!!!

yep. That was probably about right. It flooded once in 7 years then a 3 year break then 3 times in 12 months. It was about 4ft all across the racecourse and in the buildings in December. It only made aroud 1.5 feet this time.

You can see why their horse-racing fixtures stop in October. I was told that when the River Avon becomes too high, the river authority flood the racecourse purposely to save the theatre in Stratford. Fair enough, it was and seemingly still is a flood plain.

Have seen a lot of pubs very close to rivers. Are those as safe?

Cheers Tom.

If the water only reaches the pumps they are safe. If it reaches the optics it's not going to look promising as it's bottled only.  glug

I like your priorities Jaap, but the question is irrelevant - I drank all those pubs dry before Christmas!  cheers1
