Well are trip still ongoing, vist son and daughter in edinbough left saturday morning 9.30 am and 9.50 bang tractor turened across the front, now awaiting recovery home in the morning, not sure thier is anythink more to happen?? we were in hospital all day yesderday, but both ok just some bruises.
Yoda phoned last night (Sunday) just to say that they were both okay. Dilys banged her leg but was okay while he only banged his head against the window glass, but fortunately the glass was fine! cheers

Check up at the hospital was pure precautionary, but they kept them there for 12 hours! affraid

As you've said, they'll have plenty of stories to tell after this trip.

It would be good to hear from Kevin and Dilys that they have arrived home safe.
With the luck they have had who know what could have befallen them in the last few hours

It's good that they kept them in hospital for obersavation you hear so many stories of people being released too soon, that said I'm sure they can't wait to sleep at home in thier own bed for a change.

Hopefully Sasha is fixable and were seen them soon at the next event.

Hi all yes got home last night, this morning was spend unloading the camper, did not use all we took so now know to slim down for next trip.
Not sure when that will be, as the front is badly damaged, waiting for an asser to see it, so unable to do anything yet, we had plans to reduce the wight and make it easier to get stuff from under the beds.
Front drivers wing, bonnet, front grill and bumper beyond repair.

So the insurance could take a wile to sort out, not sure if I can work in the back, while they tack their time. Will check when they phone.

Well, at least all those bits at the front are easily replaceable, to repair the rear would be a whole lot harder.

As you say, a major rethink for next time.

kev.. if its damaged that bad the insurance company will probably write it off and they will only give you market value so you will have to wait and see...scratching chin

Ah man, sorry to hear  about your shunt, glad your all alright.
If it is written off make sure you get what it would cost you to replace it with the same vehicle, year , mileage etc. a few years back I had my Fiat Stilo written off, the  insurers offered £2100 and I turned it down. I sent with my letter 8 adverts printed out from ebay and autotrader showing identical cars colour etc, etc all for sale between £3500 and £4000. They wrote back offering £3500 I took it.
When they talk about market value they are using Glasses Guide, when you buy a car your paying retail and that is your market value.

Hope every thing works out for you guys.

I had the same with my ML last year when it went for a swim in the river.
They offered me £4k and I said that's an insult they asked me what I thought it was worth so I said £8k and we settled on £6995.
You can and have to negotiate with them.
I would look on autotrader and ebay and see what Landy campers are going for you might get a big shock on prices.

Remember it's down to you to get as much as you can from them they will offer as little as they think they can get away with !

Tbh, don't think I would have wanted it back 12 hours under water interior was shot and they caved the side in getting it out of the river.

But if they let you buy it back I would expect it would be scrap value plus a couple of percent.

The insurance companies do some odd stuff, years ago I bought a brand new mg metro turbo cost me £6k new after 18 month I parked it backwards into a wall at about 80mph the repair bill came to £5.5k list was about 475 and they repaired it new body shell the works only original bits were rear hatch, bonnet engine and gear box and yet a mate of mine has a 2011 Alfa which had the offside front wing damaged and the bonnet in a prang they wrote it off he brought it back and it cost him £1800 in a top body shop to put right

Nah never asked, the car was so trashed not worth the bother, "bent in the middle like a one string fiddle" as they say!
My only previous write off was a motorbike, got paid out and they never came to claim the wreck. After 3 months I wrote to the insurers  and said if they didn't collect the bike in the next 7 days then I would claim the motorcycle as demuridge and dispose of it as I saw fit. Rebuilt it with new frame and got a little earner out of it.....only time I've ever made money out of an insurance company Smile
