Wind Tunnel Empty
PostSubject: Wind Tunnel   Wind Tunnel EmptySun Mar 16, 2014 7:34 am

Bit of a bummer:- Recently dropped the mrs off at Alicante Airport on route to the UK, so thought i'd ship Almeria to Melilla and poodle down to Merzouga for a couple of weeks.
That is until half hour south of Alicante my 110 decided to chuck most of it's coolant out via the expansion tank cap.
Managed to get myself into Land Rover at Elche Alicante and arranged the workshop for the following morning.
This left me having to find somewhere to kip for the night, fortunately I knew of some open ground at the back of Vinalopo Hospital in Elche near Land Rover.
Popped up the Maggi top tent, had a feed and an early night.
During the night it got a bit more interesting, by 3am I was in 50 to 60 mph gale force cross winds  :afraid: , really thought both me and the Maggiolena top tent were about to part company with the Land Rover,
I'd already opened the side door down wind, thinking being if me and the Maggi rolled of the roof I'd have a way out of the tent.
Then I came up with the idea to open the side door flap on the wind side and hay presto all the banging and rocking stopped,, the wind just came in the door flap on one side and out the opposite side,
I've never slept in a wind tunnel before.

Scary indeed. I know plenty of folk love 'em, but when it comes to roof tents, to me the list of cons far outweighs the list of pros. This only goes to confirm my views on them.

Now let me guess, the head gasket's gone on your 300 tdi?

Hiya Tom,
Yep half right, it's the head gasket but on a Puma 36000 mls on the clock and less than 4years old.
I didn't want the ford when I bought it but I did want a new Defender so bit the bullet.
You know when you have the feeling something not right well that's what happened, slight smell weeks
earlier a little lumpy first thing, the water level happier just below the mark, yet after presure testing nothing showing.
