There is much contention about the legality of aftermarket HID kits fitted to vehicles, this clears it up once and for all.

What do you think about the LED light bars that are becoming more common?
Are they worth the money?

Do you mean the short bars used as daytime running lights? or do you mean the high power LED light spotlights bars?

The high power bars mostly seen full width on a roof rack.

Not very good unless you want them for short and medium range lighting, make excellent work lights though.

There are numerous problems with LED's overheating and burning out quickly and with them going off colour through rapid heat deterioration.

If you want the best lights visit this site.

http://fyrlyt.com/

These are the best lights I have ever seen. Better than HID at a fraction of the cost. I have used mine in comparison with big name HID lights and never had any of them come close. The halogen light is simple, trouble-free and easier on your eyes than many other types of lights. I'll post a few pics to show you all.

LED lighting technology is moving at a phenomenal pace due to massive investment in the technology, and this is being reflected in the products coming to the market, but LED lighting will never be as bright as conventionally accepted forms of lighting.

LED chips have the major problem of cooling because when they reach a temperature above 60 degrees their performance and longevity drops significantly, and this is where the major problems arise. Much work has, and is being done to overcome this problem as this is the limiting factor in LED light output, and they can currently make LED's much brighter than they currently do, but cooling is the issue.

However; LED lighting has one significant advantage and this is something called temperature, and temperature is actually the colour of the emitted light measured in Joules; normal sunlight is around 6500 joules and the eyes work best with light at this temperature, basically you see more with light at this temperature. With a normal bulb or HID lighting you have to have the temperature the light is emitted at, but as LED lighting is multiple individual LED chips you can blend light, in simple terms you can have several LED chips with a wide viewing angle or angle of emitted light to give a wide angle of light around the short to medium ranges, and very narrow angle light chips to give long range light.
By combining this light you have wide angle light to light up close to the vehicle, and narrow angles of light for distance, but by colour matching with the numerous LED chips you can achieve almost natural daylight (6500 Joules) and still deceive the eye by replicating natural daylight, and you still see much more by using much lower levels of light output.

Quick update on HiD.

Due to a recent court case the position on HiD is now clarified.

If your vehicle was originally fitted with HiD as standard, or as an optional accessory by the MANUFACTURER FROM NEW then you can fit them.

You must fit the original light unit (the whole unit) from the same original equipment suppliers who supply the vehicle manufacturer, or the OE supplier who supplied the vehicle manufacturer at the time the vehicle was built.

If the OE supplier was Denso and Lucas then they must be fitted with Denso or Lucas units, you cannot fit Bosch.

You must have the complete light unit and original equipment ballasts and they must all be E marked to comply with EU regulations.

You CANNOT fit HiD bulbs to original lenses or light units.
