PostSubject: G'day all...   G'day all... EmptyTue Nov 20, 2012 8:37 pm

G'day all avid overlanders, I am Phil Miller, I am a Falkland Islander, my partner is Jackie Klopper and she is South African.
I have an 80 series diesel Toyota Land Cruiser "Awesome" which I have shipped back from the Falklands to England where we presently reside.
We are in the very early stages of planning a memorable 'once in a lifetime' overland expedition from UK to Port Elizabeth, South Africa...we are planning to do this trip during 2013.
The adventures of the Kapp2Cape explorers Viking explorer and African GirlChild are being followed closely by us both for the pure interest and also as a way of learning from their experience...thank you both for that!
We look forward to chatting to as many experienced overlanders that we can...this forum should be of great interest to us all.
Thank you...plan safe, travel safe.

Welcome indeed! cheers

Certainly strong SA links on this forum, but as far as I'm aware Phil, you've scored a first ... the first and only (to date)Falkland Islander to join in the mayhem. That deserves a double welcome!! cheers cheers

Dont get me wrong I love the Jag. Has really helped me with commuting, but I miss my truck. First sign of frost & the RWD 240bhp car does not want to move......hahahaha.

Any questions just fire away, dont worry if you post stuff in the wrong place, one of us will move it. Welcome to the Clan. thumbsup

Yes...errrr...snow Embarassed had a 'bump' slithering down hill backwards in mine last Xmas...then took it to the body shop Sad £800 later bawling it was repaired! Great motor and quick when decent roads are open before it though Wink

Why sell your truck? and what was it?

Yes I am sure I will have some questions at some stage...Smile

I owned a Hyundai Terracan 2.9 for 4 years. Due to my job I was needing to commute 50-75 miles a day. Shortly after acquiring my Motorway cruiser, a friend of a friend offered to buy my Terracan. And that was that.

I do miss, it. Was a solid truck, pulled well, and was epic in winter. Im currently at the stage of replacing it.

Good luck mate. I know I will never be with out my Land Cruiser...I have shipped it from England to the Falkland Islands and now back again, it is a vehicle I never intend to get rid of...just love it too much!
Cheers,
Phil

Okay, the story starts with a couple - her South African and him Norwegian. Having lived in England for a fair ol' while, they decided step off the treadmill of life for a while and drive their Landcruiser from the highest point in Europe to the southernmost tip of Africa. "Kapp2Cape " was born, and fortunately for us they chose this forum to announce to the world about their plans. For their initial post, see ...

PROPOSED - Overland Trips & Expeditions

Kapp 2 Cape - Nordkapp to Cape Agulhas 2012

Coincidentally, at the very time of year they had planned to set off on their big adventure, I was holding the inaugural ADVENTURE OVERLAND SHOW, so invited "Kapp 2 Cape" to embark from the show. This they did, so we gave them a rousing send-off!

It could be your turn next, so are welcome to use ADVENTURE OVERLAND SHOW 2013 as your launch pad!!! Wink

Ahahh...right, well Jax and I went to the 'Adventure Overland show' and we met up with the intrepid Norwegian and his lovely partner from South Africa Wink we have been following their progress too.
We went to the show because of the passion of doing the journey and it was great to meet them...coincidental in fact!

Our turn...well lets wait and see how the planning pans out and see where we are with that...but...yes...it is a 'maybe' Wink

Cheers, Phil
