Excellent, I'll be following your conversion with great interest. As I've mentioned before, I've had 3 G's over the years and I'm now looking at buying one of the ex military soft tops from Jacksons (8000 km on the clock)

There was one on EBay for 5-6k but would rather buy direct.

The Jackson's G is 24volt as well...I'm still tempted Twisted Evil 

Here's a couple of pics of my AMG version.  Seems weird not having any digital photos!!!

The best shots were taken when the Off Road mag came round so I've done a professional job of digitizing them......took a photo of the mag shots  Embarassed

Believe it or not, I paid £7,000 for this in 1998. I bought it from a gentleman farmer (if there is such a thing) really nice chap who's main advise to me was to turn the engine off when refueling as the tick over used fuel quicker than the pump could fill it  affraid 

It was previously owned by HRH Al Maktoum so instead of cutting it up and making an off road plaything I went the other way and brought it back to it's original glory. Unfortunatly, 3 months after it having the 5 page spread in the magazine it was nicked from outside my house  Crying or Very sad

And a proper 4x4 with manual diff lock on both axles. As I've said before, I'm not baised in any way as I've had great fun with both icons of the utillity 4x4.

You can spend more money on the boltons for a G rather than the essentials on the Defender etc.

Yes I too like the G.
I worked on one at a camp site in Namibia one year. The clutch hydraulic system had gone. Easy to get at, simple to do. They did have a spare set of master cylinder bits but the rod was wrong. I used the new bit but had to cut the washer that is at the end of the cylinder. A temporay job. It was still being used that way three years later.

I understand tail light clusters are 250 quid ?
